Membrane Type Waterproofing :
Bituminous membrane waterproofing is a popular method used for low-sloped roofs due to their good proven performance. Bituminous waterproofing membrane has a torch on a membrane and self-adhesive membrane.
Self-adhesive compounds, the best waterproofing material, comprise asphalt, polymers, and filler; additionally, certain resins and oils may be added to improve adhesion characteristics. The self-adhesive type has a low shelf life as bonding properties of the membrane reduces with time.
Torch on membrane has exposed and covered types. Exposed membrane often has mineral granular aggregate to withstand the small wear and tear of the weathering and the other types of membrane, the contractor needs to apply one protective screen to prevent the puncture of the membrane.
There are two methods of waterproofing, one is Torch seal and other is Self-adhesive membrane waterproofing. Torch seal is used for a podium, external development etc., and woks at a site. This is a very common method used for waterproofing at a site. It is more durable and cost-effective method compared to Self – adhesive membrane.
